This coffee comes from the La Plata region of Huila, Colombia where it’s produced by Abelardo Medina.

Abelardo is in only his second year of coffee farming, having learned a great deal about coffee production from his neighbours and representatives from the exporter, Osito Coffee.
At Finca El Girasol, which means ‘the sunflower’ in Spanish, Abelardo grows both castillo and pink bourbon variety trees. At over 2,000 metres elevation, it’s on the higher end of the altitude spectrum for the region.
Pink bourbon is a relatively-new coffee variety primarily grown in Huila, Colombia. While it was originally thought to be a hybrid of red bourbon and yellow bourbon, genetic testing now indicates that pink bourbon is descended from an Ethiopian landrace variety.

This coffee is intensely concentrated and sweet, tasting of black grapes and fresh mulberries with rosehip-like aromatics.
