Small Batch has been championing the virtues of filter brewing for a long time now, and in 2017 (when Golden Ticket was launched) they realised a pairing of two single origin coffees was a great way to go to produce maximum approachableness, a journey in flavour from hot to cool, the greatest balance of juiciness and sweetness, and mostly importantly for a daily driver, consistent performance.

If you've not tried a filter blend before, thinking it won't be as distinct as a single farm coffee, make sure you don't miss this one.

This filter blend is best enjoyed black and comprises:

  • Alemayehu Sali - Uraga, Guji, Ethiopia (Washed)
  • Asdeflor Cooperative (5 producer blend) - Huehuetenango, Guatemala (Washed)

Go-to filter brewing device is the v60 2 cup pour over. Start with 20g of ground coffee, an add a total of 330g water at 95 degrees over 1.5 mins (settling the v60 cone intermittently to ensure a gentle consistent flow), aiming for a total brew time of 3 mins.

Small Batch Roasting Co.

Established in 2009, Small Batch Roasting Co. want to spread the word that with carefully sourced and roasted coffee beans, a bit of knowledge, and openness to a world beyond espresso, anyone can make coffee at home that’s as good as any cafe’s, and better than most.

Understanding that the best cup of coffee starts with the raw product, they are dedicated to working consciously and meaningfully in a select group of countries, collaborating with producers closely to achieve the holy trinity: coffee that is exceptional, that has a positive social impact and that supports sustainable agriculture.
